Hematopathology
The division of hematopathology consists of four board certified hematopathologists who have a combined 60 years experience in hematopoietic diagnoses, almost all of those years in service to patients of Clin-Path Associates, PLC. Our diverse training backgrounds bring a unique set of individuals who are comfortable with routine as well as esoteric diagnoses. All bone marrow specimens from our collection of Arizona hospitals as well as outpatient bone marrows are diagnosed by the division of hematopathology. We are also responsible for diagnosing the majority of reactive and neoplastic lymph node biopsies. Almost all of our morphology and flow cytometry reports are completed in 24 to 48 hours, with usually an additional day for fluorescence in situ hybridization and 4-7 additional days for conventional cytogenetic results. Our diagnoses are consolidated reports with morphology, flow cytometry, fluorescence in situ hybridization, cytogenetics, and any special study results. This increases patient safety as an abnormal result is less likely to be overlooked, if reported separately.
At Clin-Path Diagnostics, our motto is “Patient first”. For the division of Hematopathology to meet that goal in complex diagnostic cases, we have the support of an in-house molecular pathology laboratory which we designed. It incorporates the most sophisticated equipment to perform flow cytometric analysis of bone marrow, lymph nodes, cytologic fluids, and peripheral blood. We are one of only a few laboratories in the state to perform high sensitivity testing for paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria. Our fluorescence in situ hybridization analysis laboratory utilizes advanced equipment to detect pathognomonic genetic abnormalities for hematologic malignancies and pre-malignancies. We are also supported by an extensive immunohistochemistry department within our histology laboratory.
In addition to the diagnostic services we perform, our entire group at Clin-Path Associates, PLC, performs inpatient and outpatient bone marrows. This enables us to have contact with patients as well as make sure we have diagnostic material. The volume of bone marrows, lymph nodes, flow cytometry, and fluorescence in situ hybridization that we interpret keep us well versed and prepared for difficult and challenging cases. It would be our pleasure to provide you and your patients with world class hematopoietic diagnostic services at a “local” level, with easy access to all of our hematopathologists for rapid consultation.
