Pediatric Pathology

Pediatric pathology encompasses diseases specific to infants and children. Our pediatric pathology service provides specialized service oriented toward pediatric specimens.

Pediatric pathology covers a broad spectrum of diseases including:

  • gastrointestinal diseases such as Hirschsprung disease, inflammatory bowel
  • disease and eosinophilic disorders
  • developmental abnormalities
  • pediatric tumors including neuroblastoma, Wilms tumor, Ewing sarcoma, bone and soft tissue tumors
  • hematologic disorders including leukemia and lymphoma
  • many other disease requiring a tissue diagnosis

In addition to these areas, we also have experience and interest in perinatal pathology including placental examinations and fetal autopsies. Ancillary studies including flow cytometry and molecular testing are utilized to supplement the traditional tools of anatomic pathology including light microscopy, histochemistry and immunohistochemistry.

We have one board certified pediatric pathologist as well as multiple specialists with broad experience in pediatric diseases in hematopathology, gastrointestinal pathology and dermatopathology to provide excellent service for our pediatric population.
