Dr. Xia Li, Ph.D., is the Medical Director of the Molecular Pathology Laboratory at Clin-Path Associates, PLC and Associate Professor of Pathology at the University of Arizona. Dr. Li has worked in the field of genetics/genomics diagnostics for more than 16 years. She is board certified in both molecular genetics and cytogenetics by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics.
In this role, she is responsible for providing scientific and clinical leadership to the clinical laboratory, as well as technical interpretation of results and report sign off. In addition, she provides physician consultations, oversees research and development projects and new assay implementations, and reviews and approves test methods/validations, standard operating procedures, and College of American Pathologists (CAP) PT documents. Finally, Dr. Li regularly trains technologists and the sales team to help them grow, reviews QC and QA documents to ensure quality clinical service and HIPAA, CLIA and CAP compliance, and participates in CAP inspections.
Prior to joining Clin-Path, Dr. Li was the Scientific Medical Director of the Genetics/Genomics Division at Sonora Quest Laboratories from 2016 to 2023, the Associate Director of the Cytogenetics Laboratory at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital from 2013 to 2016, and the Associate Director of the Cytogenetics Laboratory at Quest Diagnostics from 2010 to 2013. She has extensive experience in cancer diagnostics using state-of-the-art technologies such as karyotyping, FISH, PCR, microarray, and next-generation sequencing. She has published more than 60 peer-reviewed articles, received more than $3 million in grant funding, and holds two patents. She has been an invited speaker at numerous national and international conferences.
In her spare time, Dr. Li enjoys yoga, dancing, sewing, and hiking.
